Energy Independence: Renew America

Ed has a bold new vision for America—it is a vision of energy independence based upon community initiated and locally controlled renewable energy projects.

The centerpiece of Ed's energy program is his "RENEW AMERICA" proposal. "Renew America" is all about creating local jobs, promoting a "green" economy, and ending our reliance on fossil fuels in general, and foreign oil in particular. "Renew America" is based upon community initiated renewable energy projects and revolutionizes the basic economic model so that renewable energy profits are reinvested in our local communities for education, public safety and basic infrastructure rather than going to Wall Street investors for profit. Education

As a former Chairman of the Gloucester School Committee and a graduate of the University of Massachusetts, I am committed to quality public education. I am concerned about the process by which our tax dollars go through Washington to fund education on the local level. The farther we move educational planning and policy away from classroom teachers, the less the positive impact upon students. We don't need unfunded mandates and edicts from Washington to our local schools.read more >>

Iraq

My position on Iraq is clear and concise: We must begin withdrawing our troops today.

The vast majority of Iraqi people view us as an occupying force and believe it is acceptable to use violent means against our troops. There is no clear mission for our military. We are putting our troops in harm's way. Our troops should be commended and their families honored for their dedication. The problems facing Iraq are the result of failed political leadership, and in no way reflect the work of our military personnel.read more >>
