Other Issues

Marriage Equality

Ed is a supporter of marriage equality and stood side by side with opponents of the Constitutional Amendment to ban gay marriage on the steps of the Massachusetts State House on June 14, 2007. Ed fully supports all GLBT rights including gay marriage, the full repeal of DOMA, the enactment of Employment Anti Discrimination Law protecting the GLBT community and the abolition of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”.

Ed is Pro-Choice

Ed O’Reilly is pro-choice, he supports Roe V Wade and he will fight to protect a woman’s right to choose. That includes supporting judicial nominations who will protect this important right and voting against right-wing nominees who seek to overturn Roe v. Wade.

Repeal the GPO & WEP

Ed fully supports repealing the GPO (Government Pension Offset) and the WEP (Windfall Elimination Provision). Retired public employees should not be treated as second-class citizens. They deserve to be treated the same as private pension holders. Ed will fight in the US Senate to ensure that the GPO and WEP are repealed.

Employee Free Choice Act

Ed supports the Employee Free Choice Act. As a former union member and bargaining team negotiator, he supports this legislation wholeheartedly. Ed comes from a working class family steeped in support for organized labor. Because of that, Ed is a firm believer that employees must be given an environment free of coercion in making a choice as to union membership. Ed is unanimously endorsed by IAFF Local #1347, IAFF Local #762.
