August 1, 2008 — Ed O'Reilly. Who? He's the guy giving John Kerry heart palpitations. Can he win? At the Massachusetts Democratic Convention a couple of months ago Ed O'Reilly grabbed about 23 per cent of the delegates in spite of Kerry's efforts to keep him off the ballot. O'Reilly has come from virtually nowhere in a year's time to become the Democratic darling of the common man. O'Reilly is one of us. He's had a real job, several in fact. He's worked his way through school, paying as he went. Many of us can relate. Ed O'Reilly is a lawyer, a former fire fighter, a lobstersman and a former local elected official. Can any of us imagine John Kerry fighting a fire or serving on the local school board? Oh, stop it. I can just about picture Kerry in the Bay State. And even then Louisburg Square is hardly Bryantville. For my vote, I'll take Ed O'Reilly. Educated in the public schools and the son of a fire fighter. If Mr. Smith isn't around to go to Washington, let send Mr. O'Reilly. And remember as long shots go, it was just a few short years ago people were calling our now governor Patrick Deval. Now they remember the name. Maybe lightning will strike twice and this time for Ed O'Reilly.
