June 9, 2008 — Massachusetts Senator John Kerry will face a challenger in the Democratic primary for the first time since taking office 23 years ago.
At the state party convention Saturday in Lowell, Gloucester Attorney Edward O'Reilly got more than the 15 percent needed to get on the ballot. Analysts think he is a long shot to win but that is not slowing him down one bit.
O'Reilly says Kerry has not been strong enough in his opposition to the Iraq way, or his support for gay marriage.
